COURSE DESCRIPTION

With the revelation of the triune God in history, through the Word of God, our communion with God was made possible and, through this, the redemptive work of Christ is carried out within the life of the Church. Like the human being, the Church is a living Theanthropic organism, the Leader and Head of which is Christ and its members are the Christians.

The Church uses liturgical systems which initiate Commun(icat)ion between Christ and the faithful and vice versa. These have visible and invisible elements. The visible objects, such as water, oil, wine, etc., are material and come from our natural environment. The invisible, such as the Energy or Grace of the Living God, Love, eternal Life, etc., are divine and come from the Triune God.

Since divine Grace and the other gifts of Christ are invisible and mystical, the means by which these gifts are transmitted are called the sacred Mysteries. It is usually held that there are seven such Mysteries (Baptism, Chrismation, Divine Eucharist, Confession, Marriage, Priesthood, and Holy Unction).

In the final analysis, however, everything that is performed within the Church is a Mystery, for the salvation and renewal of the world.
