Prof. Christos Economu
Former President and Dean of the School of Pastoral and Social Theology, University of Thessaloniki
Professor Christos K. Economou studied Theology at the School of Theology at the
University of Athens and at the University of London.
He served as a secondary school teacher at the Gymnasium of Kyrenia, the Lyceum
of Didymoteicho Evrou and Agios Athanasios, and the Model Experimental School of
the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Subsequently, he was appointed as a
Lecturer and an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Theology at the Aristotle
University of Thessaloniki. He then served as Professor at School of Pastoral and
Social Theology of the university specialising in the New Testament. He authored 8
monographs and dozens of scientific papers.
He served two terms as President of the School of Pastoral and Social Theology and
was the Dean of the School between 2004-2008. He also served as President of the
International Association of Orthodox Theological Schools and as a member of the
twelve-member board of United Bible Societies. He participated in many conferences
in Greece and abroad, and his presentations were published in the proceedings of
numerous international conferences.
