Dour anniversary of NATO bombing of FR Yugoslavia
Today marks the dour 24-year anniversary of NATO’s bombing of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, after Albanian separatists waged a guerrilla campaign in Kosovo & Metohija to breakaway from Yugoslavia.
According to reports from the period, roughly 2,500 civilians, along with 1,000 soldiers and police officers were killed in the bombing campaign.
Infrastructure, businesses, health facilities, media offices and military sites were severely damaged in the 78-day aggression.
The attacks on Yugoslavia began on orders of then NATO secretary general Javier Solana.
