Fr. Andreas Houpos

Protopresbyter Andreas G. Houpos is a native of Portsmouth, Virginia. He received a Master of Divinity degree, and Certificate in Byzantine Music, from Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in 2014. He then served as pastoral assistant at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation in Baltimore, Maryland. In 2017, Fr. Andreas was ordained to the holy priesthood by Geron Demetrios, Archbishop of America, and assigned to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Shrine Church in Flushing, New York. In 2020, Metropolitan Alexios of Atlanta appointed him proïstamenos at St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he and Presbytera Meredyth Sophia reside. In addition to his pastoral duties, Fr. Andreas serves on the board of, and as chaplain to, the Liturgical Arts Academy of the Metropolis of Atlanta. He occasionally participates in performances and recordings of ecclesiastical chant, and contributes to translations of liturgical and religious texts from Greek into English.
